Church Women United - Women of all races with a wide range of religious, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Church women whose strength comes from Jesus Christ. We come together to witness to our faith, and go out into the community as instruments of His Love. We celebrate three special days each year: the World Day of Prayer in March, Fellowship Day in May and World Community Day the first Friday in November. We meet at noon at a host church for approximately an hour. A program is given during the first thirty minutes, and we enjoy a light lunch, prepared by the host church, and fellowship the last thirty minutes. Meals on Wheels - Taking meals to the homebound is a very rewarding experience. Those who have done this through the years deserve our heartiest thanks. We still need their service and some from others too. Those who know the routes will be happy to take you along so you may be able to deliver the meals easily when it is your turn. Occasionally a substitute is needed and a list is needed of those who might be able to help. Britthaven Party - Each year the PW give a party for residence at Britthaven Home. Food for the Bereaved - When Congregational Care is needed, members of the PW will help. If illness, death or special occasions arise the Kitchen Committee Chairperson may contact PW for help. Purpose of God Annex and Outreach Center - POG Annex serves local "at risk" youth by providing them with academic and spiritual support. PW circles supply snacks, paper products, art supplies, and cleaning products. Project New Hope Refuge Intervention - This program provides services for 18-55 who may have a criminal record, or need guidance. The goal is to encourage the local business community and officials to give them a second chance. Operation Santa Claus - OSC provides toiletries, small clothing items, puzzles, games, etc. to several hospitals, local group homes, developmental center, and behavioral center of Beaufort County. Campbell's Soup Labels - Labels are collected by PW and sent to Barium Springs Home for Children. They are used to purchase new things for the day care center and for special items such as outdoor toys and rugs.
